Alaska Homeschool Letter of Intent
Alaska doesn’t require one. Here’s what that means for you.
Good news: Alaska does not require a notice of intent to homeschool. You can simply begin. No notification required. If withdrawing from public school, submit a withdrawal form to the district.
One situation that still needs a letter
If your child is currently enrolled in a public school, send the school a short withdrawal letter before you stop attending; otherwise absences may be treated as truancy while the school still considers your child enrolled. A dated, signed note stating that you are withdrawing your child to provide instruction under Alaska’s home education law is sufficient; keep a copy.
