How to use the projection
Most families school fewer weeks than they think once holidays, sick days, and field-trip weeks are counted; 36 weeks is a typical year. If your projection lands close to your state’s line, build in margin: log a little extra early in the year rather than sprinting in May. And remember what counts is usually broader than desk time: read-alouds, museum trips, co-op classes, and educational projects are instruction in every state that counts hours.
